But first, let us clarify “What is an operating system?”. To put it simply, a window treatment operating system is the way your window covering functions in order to raise, lower, and adjust. The benefit of customizing your window treatment operating system is that you get to choose how you would like to interact with your blind, shade, shutter, or drape to achieve your light control and privacy needs. Hunter Douglas offers several cordless system options that declutter the area around your windows making them free of cords and chains. Cordless blinds and cordless shades are not only a more up-to-date look but eliminating the need for cords can also improve your home environment by making it safer for children and pets. Window Blind Operating Systems
LiteRise®
Go cordless with the LiteRise® operating system from Hunter Douglas. LiteRise® makes raising and lowering manual blinds as easy as it gets. Smoothly push up on the bottom rail to raise or pull to lower. The LiteRise® technology will securely hold blinds at any position.
SimpleLift™
SimpleLift™ is another cordless operating system option from Hunter Douglas with an additional safety feature for small children and pets. To raise, hold the button located on the bottom rail and lift. To lower, hold the button and pull down. Safety and convenience all in one operating system.
Cordlock
For a traditional manual blind operating system, we offer Cordlock by Hunter Douglas. This is a standard three-cord system. One cord is used to raise and lower the window blind while the remaining two cords can be used to adjust the blind slats in a forward or backward direction.
Wand Tilt
Customize any of the Hunter Douglas manual blind operating systems with a wand tilt option. A wand is a cleaner and less cluttered look to adjust blind slats. The wand can be turned in either direction to tilt the blind slats forward or backward letting in more or less light.
Wand Control
We offer the Wand Control operating system for Skyline® Gliding Panel vertical blinds. The Wand Control operating system replaces the need for looped cords and chains hanging from your blinds. Cordless blinds make for a more contemporary look as well as create a safer home environment.

Window Shade Operating Systems
Duolite®
Duolite® is a two-in-one operating system that uses two separate fabric opacities to create maximum lighting control. The window treatments can be moved in either direction for more view-through or light-blocking privacy. Duolite® is available for products: Applause®, Designer Roller Shades, Duette®, Silhouette®, and Vignette®.
UltraGlide®
The UltraGlide® operating system is a more modern version of the traditional corded shade. The retractable feature allows the cord or wand to maintain length regardless of the shade position. This is a good system option for people who do not like cords hanging from the window or people looking to enhance the safety of their home.
LiteRise®
Rasing and lowering the shades has never been more simple with LiteRise® cordless shades from Hunter Douglas. This proprietary operating system completely replaces the need for a cord and is easy to use. To raise and lower your window shades simply lift or pull from the bottom and LiteRise will securely hold any position.
Dual Roller
Dual Rollers are made from two roller shades. They are positioned one behind the other and each roller shade can operate independently. Fabrics with different opacities, such as light-filtering room darkening provide the most lighting and privacy variations. Dual rollers are available for Designer Roller and Designer Screen Shades.
EasyRise™
The EasyRise™ operating system features a continuous cord or string loop that attaches inside the window jam. To raise the window shade pull down on the front of the loop or to lower the shade pull down on the back of the loop. This manual operating system is helpful for people with large or expansive window treatments.
Top-Down/Bottom-Up
Top-down/Bottom-up shades are popular due to their versatility. This system gives you the ability to raise and lower from the top of the shade as well as the bottom. Being able to pick the exact position of the window shade lets you still enjoy natural light without having to endure harsh direct UV rays.
TrackGlide™
Designed for European style or tilt-and-turn windows, TrackGlide™ keeps honeycomb shades in place regardless of whether the window is open or closed. Due to this reason, TrackGlide™ is also a great solution for French doors. TrackGlide™ is available for Duette® and can also pair with the LiteRise® system.
LightLock™
LightLock™ is the Hunter Douglas option for a blackout shade. Perfect for someone who easily wakes from natural light, LightLock™ is engineered from a channel system that is designed to absorb and block out up to 99% of sunlight. This system is available for Duette Honeycomb Shades and can be paired with LiteRise®.
A Deux™
The A Deux™ system is unique to Silhouette® Sheer Shades by Hunter Douglas. Similar to a dual roller, A Deux™ combines two window treatments in one headrail. The Silhouette® sheer shade is paired with a room-darkening roller shade. Each can be individually positioned to give even more lighting control and privacy options.
Vertiglide™
Vertiglide™ offers a vertical solution for manual window shades. This system is ideal for sliding patio doors or other large side-to-side openings. To open and close, simply pull or push the handle in a sideways motion to position the shade. The Vertiglide™ system is available on the Duette® and Applause® honeycomb shades by Hunter Douglas.
Wand Control
The same wand control operating system that is offered for vertical blinds is also available for the Hunter Douglas Luminette® vertical sheer shade. To reposition the window sheer drag the wand across the upper track. Wand control replaces the need for cords or chains around the window to create a less cluttered appeal.
Combination Wand Control
Another manual operating system option for the Luminette® sheer shade is combination wand control. Hunter Douglas combined the functionality of a cord and wand into a single device. To open or draw the window sheer pull the neatly hidden loop in either direction and to tilt the veins twist the wand for more or less view through.
Custom Clutch
The Custom Clutch operating system features a continuous beaded chain loop that works on a pulley system. To raise the window shade pull down on the front of the loop or to lower the shade pull down on the back of the loop. This manual operating system is popular due to its simplicity and ease of use.

Hunter Douglas Shutter Operating Systems
Bi-Fold Track
Bi-Fold Track functions on a track system that makes it possible to hinge up to six shutter panels together to make one window treatment. The shutter panels glide along the upper track that also guides the movements of the shutter hinges. This operating system is available for all the Hunter Douglas shutter products.
Bypass Track
Bypass Track features another track-guided system, however, different from the Bi-Fold Track, this operating system uses two tracks allowing the shutter panels to glide past each other in either direction. Because of this, Bypass Track is beneficial for sliding glass doors and patio doors. This system is also available for all Hunter Douglas shutter products.
Standard Hinged Panels
Standard hinged shutter panels offer the versatile design of traditional interior shutters. Enjoy many lighting control and privacy options with adjustable slats or fully open for an uninterrupted view. Ideal for standard size windows or for wide openings additional supports can be built into the frame for a sturdy design.
Front Tilt Bar
Create a classic look with a front tilt bar on your custom shutters. A front tilt bar connects to the shutter louvers allowing you to move them all in unison when adjusting the position. This is the standard operating system for Hunter Douglas shutters and is available for all their shutter products.
TruView™ Rear Tilt
TruView™ Rear Tilt is a modern take on a front tilt shutter bar. This system is designed with the tilt bar discretely tucked on the back of the shutter for a more open view. The TruView™ Rear Tilt is still connected to the louvers so they can be operated in unison, however, to reposition the louvers all you need to do is move one louver and the rest will follow.
HiddenTilt™
HiddenTilt™ features a gear-driven system that removes the need for a bar altogether. Similar to the TruView™ Rear Tilt system, to adjust all of the louvers together move one louver and the rest will change position simultaneously. This operating system is available for the Palm Beach™ and NewStyle® Hunter Douglas shutters.
SoftClose™ Louvers
SoftClose™ Louvers are unique to the Hunter Douglas NewStyle shutters. When closing SoftClose™ Louvers, after they reach a certain position the louvers will automatically and gently close the rest of the way. This feature prevents you from running your hand over the louvers to make sure they are all closed and ensures a uniform look.
Hunter Douglas Drape & Curtain Operating Systems
Wand Control
Wand control for Hunter Douglas curtains and drapes replaces the need for cords and chains. To open or draw your drapes and curtains simply pull the wand in one direction or the other. Depending on your preference, wand control can be customized to open in one horizontal swoop from one side of the window to the other or from the middle out in both directions.
